Today I’m sending something a little lighter than usual, but still it has some thoughts that may cause you to smile or nod your head in agreement. This may have been around for a while, so it has passed the test of time. If there’s one of these that particularly strikes your fancy, let me know about it.

An Old Farmer’s Advice:

* Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight, and bull-strong.

*Keep skunks and bankers at a distance.

*Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

* A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

* Words that soak into your ears are whispered…not yelled.

* Meanness don’t jes’ happen overnight.

* Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.

* Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

* It don’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.

* You cannot unsay a cruel word.

* Every path has a few puddles.

* When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

* It’s always easier to ride a horse in the direction he’s goin’.

* The best sermons are lived, not preached.

* Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.

* Don’t judge folks by their relatives.

* Happiness ain’t havin’ what ya want. It’s wantin’ what ya have.

* Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

* Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.

* Don’t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering you none.

* Timing has a lot to do with the success of a rain dance.

* If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.

* Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

* Don’t squat with your spurs on.

* The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with pro’ly watches you from the mirror every morning.

* Always drink upstream from the herd.

* Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

* Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.

* If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around.

* Wanna know about the “influence” I got? Punch your fist in yonder barrel of rainwater and pull’r out real fast! The hole that’s left is how much influence is mine.

* Live simply, love generously, care deeply, and speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

* Splurgin’ on some choc’late oncet in a while is some pretty good advice, too!

Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just shoot you. ‘Course his aim pro’ly ain’t all that good so don’t sweat it!

Please remember KV in your prayers (in addition to the folks recommended to you over the past couple of weeks). Lots of pain caused by multiple illnesses has really been a challenge for her. Don’t forget your prayerful support of our soldiers and their leaders, all the people whose vocation it is to serve God by serving others in every land, and especially pray for the children who live under horrendous conditions of famine, war, terror, abuse and neglect, and diseases which steal away their young lives. Thanks and a tip-o’-the-hat to CW for sending this.
Whatever, whenever, wherever, whoever, however, if ever, forever — at your service.
