Aloha Friday Message – August 7, 2009

Happy Aloha Friday, Beloved! I am thinking today about how God never ceases to love us and bless us. First a little story – on of those that flutters around the Internet occasionally, and after that an invitation to pray.

GOD WANTS ME

One day I happened to call a man on business who I didn’t know, have not nor will probably ever talk to again. But this day, he felt like talking. He was head of security at a company that had invited the remaining members of a company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space. With his voice full of awe, he told me stories of why these people were alive and their counterparts were dead.

All the stories were just little things. You might know about the head of the company who got in late that day because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts. There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered and put in a book. The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning. He took the various means to get to work, but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone … all the little things that annoy me … I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment. May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things. THAT STILL SMALL VOICE

Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for…THAT’S GOD…He talks to you through the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to…THAT’S GOD…He wants you to talk to Him.

Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven’t seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them…THAT’S GOD…there is no such thing as “coincidence.”

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn’t even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted, but couldn’t afford …THAT’S GOD…He places in you the desires of your heart…

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it is going to get better, but now you look back on it…THAT’S GOD…He passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day..

DO YOU THINK THAT THIS E-MAIL WAS ACCIDENTALLY SENT TO YOU? NOPE! I was thinking of you! Please pass this along and share the Power of God…In all that we do, we should totally give HIM thanks and our blessings will continue to multiply.

This message was sent to me by a close friend so please pass it on to all of your good friends.

Back in the days when I was doing “Management Training” one of the things I encourage people to do was to write their own Mission Statement. Mine is hanging on the wall in my office and every once in a while – particularly when I am tired and frustrated – I read it. It helps me remember why I do what I do. It begins like this:

My mission is to be a helper, whether by leading or by following, in all of the roles in my life.

🙂 The first role is that of a family member. My mission is a sacred vocation to be son and brother, husband and father.

🙂 The second role is that of intercessor. My mission is a willing obligation to be instant and constant in prayer for others.

🙂 The third role is that of a servant. My mission is a prudent use of my God-given abilities to acquire and use knowledge and skills which can be an encouragement to others.

I am inviting you to join me in that second role today, and every day until the next Aloha Friday. Please give this a try. If you can have friends and family join you, so much the better!

God calls His people to bless them so that they bless Him by blessing each other. We lift our hearts and minds to pray for one another:

Father, you call all of us to seek you in many ways. May each of us find that way that brings us closest to you. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for those who help and guide us on the way to finding our Peace in You. Give them strength to share with us when we are weak. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for who are overcome with struggling against their weaknesses. Show them mercy by infusing them with your Wisdom so they will see where strength is found. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for those among us everywhere who are suffering because of illness in body, mind, or spirit. Let them find comfort in the loving prayers we offer on their behalf. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for every person who lives in fear because of acts of terror, anger, war, or abuse and neglect. May we find ways to bless them with temporal and spiritual charity. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for those who indulge unhealthy appetites for what the world offers. Deliver them from their desire to appease themselves in themselves, and let their appetite lead them to the banquet of your love. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

We pray that in all things we will remember that you want us, just as we are, so that in us and through us the world will com to know there is no other god like our God and no better blessing than serving You. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for those who have committed their live to you and gained your salvation. For those who are working to purify their souls through prayers and offerings of love to you and for us, we ask for pardon and peace. Let us pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer.

Gracious God, hear the prayers of your servants today and grant us the Peace that surpasses all understanding through Jesus, the Christ, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord, may the blessing we long for be the strength of your faithful people, so that they will never be in conflict with your will. May your blessing always prompt them to give thanks for your unmerited favors.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Make it a wonderful day, Beloved, the beginning of a wonderful week of prayer.
